2.2. Create your first outersite

2.2.1. Introduction

This second tutorial guides you as you complete the main steps before generating the outersite of your website.

2.2.2. Step 1: Search for your files

Launch OutSite-In. The Files tab will appear by default; it lets you import your web site files. Select My files are on a FTP server or My files are on my computer or on the local network according as applicable.

If you select the FTP connection, click Edit... to enter the necessary information to connect to your website:

  • Your FTP Host

  • Your FTP User

  • Your FTP Password

  • Your Root directory

Then click Import files!

Select Download all or Choose files to download if you want to import specific files.

If you have a local directory, click Browse... to choose your file directory: Then click Import files!.

Once the files have been imported, verify that all files were copied to: Program Files\OutSite-In\OpenedProject\Source\Files by clicking on Open copied files directory... Click to go to the Data tabsheet.

2.2.3. Step 2: Import your data

The Data tabsheet lets you import your website database, if you use one. Select I don't use a database or I use a MySQL database as applicable.

If you have a database, enter:

  • Your MySQL User

  • Your MySQL Password

To import your database, select I have a *.SQL import script or I use phpMyAdmin online, search for my data automatically, as applicable. If you select to import using a script, click Browse to access to your sql script.

If you select phpMyAdmin to import the data, click Edit... and enter:

  • Your phpMyAdmin URL

  • Your phpMyAdmin User

  • Your phpMyAdmin Password

Click Import data!.

Select Download all or Choose the database and tables to import only selected tables.

Once the import is finished, click Edit the database…

Select your database's name from the drop-down list and verify that all the data tables and their content were imported. Close the browser to continue with OutSite-In. Click to go to the Options tabsheet.

2.2.4. Step 3: Select your options

Click to modify your outersite's name. Enter your outersite's new name. .

Select Password Protected if you wish to protect your project with a password. Enter a password and then confirm it.

[Professional Edition]: You can compress your OutSite-In project file.

Click OK to validate.

In My outersite home page click Browse... to select the file to be displayed at your outersite's launch. If you wish to personalize your splash screens or your outersite icon click on Browse... The settings for advanced configuration options allows you to configure Apache, PHP and MySQL software.

2.2.5. Step 4: Customize your outersite

OutSite-In lets you personalize your outersite to increase its performance and professional look.

[Professional Edition]: The set up your outersite launch in Internet Explorer and Choose the local host name options are available.

2.2.6. Step 5: Manipulate your offline site

Click to preview your offline site and have write access to the files and data.

2.2.7. Step 6: Generate your outersite

Click Generate..., or from the menu bar select Generate->Generate your outersite. The outersite generation window will appear. Select Create an outersite CD-Rom/DVD-Rom/ USB-key of your website or Create a outersite software of your site web

If you are creating a CD/DVD/USB key outersite, check Keep your outersite pre-installed on users computers. Then click Browse... to select your outersite's output location.

If you are creating a software click, Browse... to select your outersite's output location.

Click Generate! Once the outersite generation has been completed:

  • If you created a CD/DVD/USB key outersite, click Open the outersite output directory and double-click Autorun.exe to launch your outersite.

  • If you created an outersite software, click Open the outersite output directory and double-click setup.exe or Install the outersite now to install it immediately.

To install outersite software, the My outersite setup Wizard will guide you. Click Next >

Click Browse... to choose the destination path.

Select the start menu folder. Click Next >

Create a desktop icon. Click Next >

Check Launch My Outersite, then click Finish.

2.2.8. Step 7: Save your project

In the OutSite-In menu bar select File->Save, to save your project (*.oip). Select the destination folder.
